Thank you to the entire team for serving a new record number of diners last night, 315+225. Jay, the chef for the Mesa dining room, will be serving breakfast this morning. He hasn't been able to offer this kind of breakfast in many years.
The green chiles, eggs, cheese, and bacon that were left will be made into delicious egg entrees for many more meals through this holiday season.
Thank you, Blase, for another creative certificate for our team.
Curt Harshman at Shamrock provided the milk and juices, at Maria's request.
Tricia Phelps with BarS, has donated and volunteered for five years.
Dick Pattingale from Holsum donates daily, including this meal.
Thank you! Every Hickman member makes this possible!

April 23 and 24, 2011 the Wigwam hosted the 1st Annual Easter Egg Roll, with special guest Governor Jan Brewer. Modeled after the event in Washington, the event also included many activities for old and young alike, and a special judging of decorated eggs by Governor Brewer. Participants in the festivities were enthusiastic about the celebration of all things springtime, and the word heard most frequently was "awesome." Hickman's Family Farms was pleased to have been a part of what will surely become an Arizona family tradition.
Sharman Hickman was interviewed recently on the Sonoran Living program on ABC15 regarding the Arizona Farm Bureau's "Fill Your Plate" program
ARIZONA – April 7, 2011 – Leading up to the Easter holiday, food banks across Arizona, as well as in Hawaii, Nevada, Colorado and California will receive approximately 700,000 eggs from Hickman’s Family Farms – Arizona’s only commercial egg producer. The donation is a long-time Hickman’s family tradition before Easter and has been part of United Egg Producers contribution to Feeding America’s national campaign for the past four years. Donations in Arizona will be made to St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance in Phoenix, Yuma Community Food Bank, Community Food Bank in Tucson, United Food Bank in Mesa and St. Mary’s Food Bank in Flagstaff. ABC 15 reports on the donation of 37,000 Hickman's eggs to the United food Bank in Mesa, AZ.
St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance in Phoenix is searching for the answer. Hickman’s Family Farms & Tyson Chicken made a huge donation to help feed hungry people in the Valley of 54,000 eggs and 30,000 lbs. of chicken. The Hickman's egg delivery truck arrived just ahead of the Tyson chicken delivery truck. (This donation by Hickman’s precedes a much larger donation of eggs to be made to food banks statewide in April.)
So -- do you think that settles the issue of which came first?

Civitan Foundation says thank you...December 2010 Dear Hickman’s Family Farms, Since 1968, Civitan has been dedicated to the idea that people with disabilities deserve to have access to the same physical and social benefits so many of us take for granted in recreational programs. The mission of Civitan Foundation is to provide our communities an accessible, safe, and affordable environment while delivering superior life experiences to enhance the quality of life to individuals with developmental disabilities of all ages… Not only were the eggs served (in many different ways) to over 800 campers, volunteers and providers at Camp Civitan in Williams, AZ this past summer, they were utilized in our cooking classes in Phoenix, Glendale, and Sun City. Our clients thoroughly enjoyed preparing many different egg dishes, their favorite being egg burritos. Your thoughtfulness is appreciated! Sincerely, |
