The Hickman Family Says ‘THANK YOU’[vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″]
A heartfelt thanks is sent from the entire Hickman family and family of employees to the valued partners and volunteers who came together again this year for the 4th Annual Governor’s Egg Roll hosted by the Wigwam Resort and Spa in Litchfield Park.
Governor Jan Brewer and her representatives have attended the Egg Roll since it began. Governor Brewer signals the official start to the Egg Roll each year and rallies the egg hunters. This year, her supportive words to Maricopa County Supervisor Clint Hickman were deeply appreciated, and the Hickman family thanks her for her many years of dedicated public service, and of friendship.
The Wigwam – a locally-owned and treasured landmark – and their entire staff made it possible for lush green lawns to be filled with families having fun, creating traditions, and making memories. The Red Door Spa donated luxurious spa treats to the winners of the fashion show, including the winners’ parents! Director of Golf, Rick Cicci, provided the SNAG golf game.
Hilgers Pediatric Dentistry and Hilgers Orthodontics contributed their wonderful display and the Bunny Town Train along with free gifts and fun for youths of all ages. Every year the Hilgers family and friendly staff donates generously of their resources for families in attendance at the Egg Roll.
Shamrock Farms, owned by the McClellands – another Arizona family – donated thousands of servings of ice cream, cash cow coupons, and cow keychains, as well as the Dairy Council’s Soccer Shots. Roxie the cow appeared and even entered the Easter fashion show!
Bruce Haffner and the Ft. McDowell Casino News Chopper once again landed the Easter Bunny safely on the Wigwam’s parking lot and made it possible for children to meet all of the mascots and the Bunny by the helicopter.
The Honey Foundation, a locally founded non-profit organization devoted to making the world a better place through random acts of kindness, generously donated items and brought their Honey Bee mascot for family photos.
Our Verve/Vemma friends’ all natural drinks were offered to guests as complimentary beverages as children needed to hydrate between activities.
The Millennium High School Honor Society students and staff assisted in the activities as they have done for the past several years, helping families enjoy themselves even more.
Our Bashas’ family of stores and career staff donated the craft area and demonstrated how to repurpose egg cartons into bunny ears. In addition, Bashas’ is currently providing egg carton planters in their stores to promote healthy youth activities and the repurposing of consumer packaging.
David Schwake and his Wigwam Creek cafeteria staff provided the eggs to be dyed and crafted.
Award-winning children’s author and Arizonan, Conrad Storad, donated reading time and several informative and entertaining books (Arizona Color Me Wacky, Rattlesnake Rules, and others) to the Star Readers in the reading corner. Published by Five Star Publications, Mr. Storad’s books feature Arizona and themes of special local interest. We were happy to include mascots Johnny Ringo and Storybook Monster to our line-up of mascot heroes.
A special thanks to the teachers and educators that encouraged their Star Readers by attending to listen to their students read in the Reading Corner.
NextCare Urgent Care was our partner for face painting and balloon artistry. We greeted mascot Big Red from the Phoenix Cardinals for the very first time. We also are grateful for the contributions of the Wildlife World Zoo, Aqua Tots, and Modern Woodmen.
Entertainment from Kids Dance, the Archway Trivium School Choir, and the Anderson Institute of Music proved that not all the really good shows are on Broadway these days.
Finally, thank you to company founders Bill, Sr. and Gertie Hickman for making yet another delivery in the form of the vintage figure of Henrietta – a symbol of Hickman’s eggs since the 1960s.
In closing, Hickman’s Family Farms and the Hickman family want to say what a great day we had being a part of the Easter weekend celebration of so many people. The 4th Annual Governor’s Egg Roll was possible because of the generosity of community-minded companies and individuals.
We are grateful for the opportunity the past 70 years to provide fresh eggs in Arizona, and we look forward to the future. With such wonderful friends and supporters, we are sure the best is yet to come.
